🔊 We’ve got exciting updates from the TOMAGROUP Operational Group project! 🌱🍅
Over the past few months, we’ve been working on a fascinating field trial with cherry pear tomato crops, applying two biostimulants—both via root and foliar application—developed by Agrolaboratorios Nutricionales, S.A.
These formulations contain an innovative extract derived from tomato discards, developed by the CIDAF Technology Center after a rigorous selection and optimization process at laboratory and pilot scale. 🏭
👨🌾 Crop Monitoring (Grupo La Caña):
Key parameters evaluated across several harvests:
- ✔️ °Brix
- ✔️ Fruit size
- ✔️ Firmness
- ✔️ Acidity
🔬 Soil and Leaf Biochemical Study (Tecnova):
Analysis of the evolution of the soil microbiota and the plant defense system.
🧪 Nutritional and Health Potential Analysis (CIDAF):
Since March, our researchers have been analyzing tomato samples using spectrophotometric and chromatographic techniques, assessing:
- 🔸 Total solids
- 🔸 Total soluble sugars
- 🔸 Total soluble protein
- 🔸 Vitamins C and E
- 🔸 Citric and malic acid
- 🔸 Carotenoids (lycopene and β-carotene)
📊 Study Objective:
To compare the impact of the new sustainable biostimulants against:
- ✔️ A commercial input
- ✔️ A non-treated control
We aim to identify the most effective formulation and its optimal application method in terms of:
- 🌿 Growth
- 🌾 Yield
- 💪 Stress tolerance
- 🍅 Fruit quality
♻️ A Circular Bioeconomy Project
This innovative project seeks to transform tomato cultivation by proposing an efficient and sustainable Circular Fertilization model, with support from Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de Granada.
🙌 We sincerely thank the Government of Andalusia and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) for their support and co-funding, as well as all the researchers and TOMAGROUP members for their dedication and commitment.
