COMPLETED PROJECTS

Our technological capacity and transversality has led us to develop R&D&I services in a wide variety of projects. These are the projects executed in the last two years.

The main objective of this project is the development and evaluation of new and innovative bioactive ingredients for cosmeceuticals with great commercial potential from tropical fruit by-products of the agri-food industry of the tropical coast of Granada.

  • Funding: Diputación de Granada
  • Beneficiary: CIDAF

The main objective of the project is to create a circular economy system through the use of by-products from the avocado industry, in order to give them a commercial outlet in the agri-food, nutraceutical and cosmetic sectors.

  • Funding: Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
  • Beneficiary: CIDAF (Coordinator) / GRUPO LA CAÑA / FRUMACO / MACOB / NATAC BIOTECH / COOP. AGROALIM. ANDALUCIA.

The main objective is to reduce the content of undesirable products, such as acrylamide, without using ingredients or additives “foreign” to the matrix under study: bread, biscuits and snacks. To this end, possible substances to be used will be studied, among which melanoidins isolated from sliced bread by-products stand out.

  • Funding: Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI).
  • Beneficiary: GALLETAS SIRO / TOASTED AND FRIED (TOSFRIT) CEREALTO ANTEQUERA.

The main objective of the project is to develop a series of tools using different technologies for localised irrigation to minimise water consumption in horticultural crops under glass.

  • Funding: Junta de Andalucía and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
  • Beneficiary: Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de Granada, Eurocastell Caña, S.L., TECNOVA, CIDAF, with the collaboration of IFAPA.

The overall objective of the project has been the valorization of olive leaves, one of the main by-products of the olive industry with an annual volume of 514,345 tons, through the production of a range of high value natural ingredients, with direct application in the animal nutrition market and potential application in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food and nutraceutical markets.

  • Funding: Junta de Andalucía and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
  • Beneficiary: INNOVALOLEO/ OLEÍCOLA EL TEJAR/ CSIC EE-ZAIDIN/ UGR/ CIDAF.

The objective of this project is the application of Green or environmentally friendly extraction techniques using Gras (Generally Recognized As Safe) solvents permitted for food use in order to eliminate or reduce the heavy metal content of by-products from the fishing industry.

  • Funding: Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment.
  • Beneficiary: Fundación Biodiversidad

The objective of this project is the design and development of functional guacamoles with healthy properties for the consumer through the incorporation of ingredients (antioxidants, fiber) or by reducing the fat content trying to obtain these ingredients from the revaluation of co-products generated during the processing of avocado from the Costa Tropical, as well as the use of Spanish avocado of detritus either by its low caliber, or by the appearance of a defect in its appearance or other vegetables produced in the Costa Tropical.

  • Funding: Corporación Tecnológica de Andalucía.
  • Beneficiary: Grupo Empresarial La Caña, S.L.

The objective of this project is the production and identification of natural preservatives produced by fermentation of sugar bases of the company Industrias Espadafor S.A., evaluation of their antimicrobial potential and semi-industrial scale production of the fermentation process with the aim of producing beverages supplemented with the fermented supernatants.

  • Funding: CDTI.
  • Beneficiary: Industrias Espadafor S.A.

Within this project, the tasks developed by CIDAF are: the optimization of the analysis method (HPLC-ESI-QTOF-MS) and the analysis of the samples, a multivariate statistical analysis of the different biological samples was carried out. “IMPLEMENTATION OF A NOVEL INTEGRATED PLATFORM TO MONITOR TUMOR HETEROGENEITY AS A CRUCIAL DETERMINANT FOR INDIVIDUALIZED DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC OUTCOME”.

  • Funded by: Instituto de Saludo Carlos III.
  • Beneficiary: FIBAO Foundation.

Within this project, the activities developed by CIDAF are to determine the efficacy of different antioxidants added to sunflower oil in order to slow down its oxidation during frying. The study carried out by CIDAF includes the determination of the efficacy of 5 antioxidants. For each oil sample or its mixture with the antioxidant, a frying process and determination of peroxide index, fatty acid oxidation and qualitative and quantitative analysis of volatiles will be carried out.

  • Funding: CONSEJERÍA DE AGRICULTURA, PESCA Y DESARROLLO RURAL.
  • Beneficiary: Aceites Málaga.

The purpose of this project is the validation of “Metabolaid” as a new natural ingredient that allows weight control and appetite regulation, while combating factors related to Metabolic Syndrome such as blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar. Cidaf’s activities within the framework of this project have been to carry out stability and improvement studies by means of encapsulation.

  • Funding: H2020 INNOPREFAT.
  • Beneficiary: Monteloeder.

The objective of this project has been to obtain a new product from the potato peeling by-product, resulting from the manufacturing process of potato chips, obtaining a new product with low water activity, rich in fiber and antioxidants. With this project we have taken advantage of the potato peel by-product, minimizing with this recycling the impact of landfill, and therefore maintaining environmental sustainability and thus closing the cycle of Circular Economy.

  • Funding: Agencia de Innovación, Financiación e Internacionalización Empresarial de Castilla y León.
  • Beneficiary: PATATAS FRITAS DE SORIA GARIJO BAIGORRI, S.L

The main objective of the project is to perform a high-throughput screening of polyphenolic compounds (in silico and subsequently in adipocyte cell models), from extracts obtained by different methodologies from the plants Lippia citriodora, Hibiscus sabdariffa and Olea europea, which have been shown to be modulators of AMPK/mTOR with the aim of developing nutraceuticals or functional ingredients enriched in these compounds and produced by Green technologies. These nutraceuticals have been subsequently validated in vivo for their ability to alleviate metabolic disorders.

  • Funding: MINISTRY OF ECONOMY, INDUSTRY AND COMPETITIVENESS.
  • Beneficiary: CIDAF/ UGR/UHM.
